Collaboration. Connection. Community.

Because Women Love Brunch is a safe haven for women to let their guard down and allow themselves the opportunity to meet and connect with a diverse group of like-minded women. To enjoy a girls day out with light and positivity. There have been so many fruitful friendships and collaborations that have been established in the result of women sharing heartfelt laughs over brunch. These relationships will continue to multiply and evolve as we grow ourselves and each other.

Top 5 Travel Tips To Find Your Inner Explorer

Join the wanderlusters of the world and have the travel life that you’ve alway dreamed of with these 5 top notch tips!

Tired of always seeing other people go on several trips a year while you’re at home watching the women from Real Housewives of Atlanta arguing in Los Cabo, or Jamaica, or wherever they are arguing while on a beautiful vacation. 🙁 Join the wanderlusters of the world and have the travel life that you’ve alway dreamed of!

This is definitely a post that you will want to Bookmark and save to come back to later, because it’s packed with super helpful information, a ton of links and helpful tips.

Funny, Witty, Knowledgeable, Helpful and Cute are a few words I would use to describe Amber; who is a Travel Guru and contributor to The Culture Supplier. I had the pleasure of meeting her though a friend that came to the first event I ever hosted for Because Women Love Brunch. Megan! Hey Megs, thanks for the intro! 🙂

Because Women Love Brunch had the opportunity to host Amber as a panelist for our Girl Talk: Catch Flights Not Feelings at Brunch and Bubbly in Dallas, TX a few weeks ago! Here are 5 top notch travel tips Amber provided:

1. FLYING FOR THE LOW-LOW

Favorite Sites

  • Google Flights
  • Hopper (sends travel notifications/updates to phone)
  • Cheapdfw.com
  • Escapehouston.com
  • The Flight Deal
  • Skyscanner
  • Airfare Watchdog
  • Momondo.com

Quick Tips:

  • Be flexible with your dates. If you have the flexibility to move your travel dates, DO IT! I saved $500+ by simply moving the date I traveled.
  • Don’t be afraid to depart from other cities. If you see a deal from another state/city, it may be cheaper to book a flight from there.
  • Don’t procrastinate. Deals book quickly. If you see a deal, grab it as soon as possible!

3. HELP! MY FRIENDS WON’T TRAVEL WITH ME

If you’re having problems securing travel arrangements with your friends (because we’ve all been there), I suggest embarking on a solo trip and/or joining a travel group. A few groups include:

  • Nomadness
  • We Go Too World
  • Tastemakers Africa
  • Black Girls Travel Too

Quick Tips

  • When planning a group trip, make sure all personalities will mess well. If your best friend is Kenya Moore, I suggest leaving her behind.
  • There are also numerous travel groups/chat groups that you can join. This is a great way to make connections all over the world and find people to vacation with. I’ve listed a few groups above and in the attached link. Check them out!

4. HOTEL ALTERNATIVES

Lodging can get pricey, especially if you don’t know where to look. Hotels and resorts are the most common lodging options for travelers, but there are other housing choices you may want to consider before booking a place to stay.

Options Include

  • Hostels (inexpensive lodging and an excellent way to meet other travelers from around the world)
  • Airbnb (personal favorite)
  • HomeAway
  • Couchsurfing.com (hosts provide FREE housing)
  • Farmstays (free housing is provided to guest in exchange for labor on a farm).
Quick Tips
  • Read reviews and compare prices before booking accommodations.
  • If you feel uncomfortable sleeping in a hostel or Airbnb, book a hotel. This is your vacation (not mine). At the end of the day, you should be 100% comfortable with the location.

Boutique Hotel in Midtown NYC

The cutest swankiest hotel in Midtown New York

So I was looking for somewhere that was close to everything and poppin! The Renwick was everything I was looking for and more. The hotel is located within a 5 minute walk to Grand Central Station and a 10 minute walk to Byant Park, New York Public Library and the most amazing Zara 😍😍😍! Along both of those walks are plenty of cafes and coffee shops. When you step into the lobby you greeted by some really dope art work. The Renwick Hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America. It has a very residential style, so if your visiting New York you’ll feel like your coming home after a long day of adventures! The Renwick is a boutique hotel with loft style rooms and is associated with Hilton. All Hilton Gold and Platinum members receive complementary breakfast from Bedford & Co. Whether your breakfast is comp’d or not I would definitely give the waffles and steel oats a try! 😋😋😋  I was completely obsessed with the hotels’ loft style rooms and  on top of all of the stylish decor; all guest are able to enjoy a complimentary fitness center with cardio equipment, weights and yoga space. Of course I didn’t make it to the fitness center. Lol But it’s always good to know that your hotel has one!The one thing that I really appreciated about The Renwick was the attention to detail on all levels in every area. I definitely can’t wait to go back! 💕

How Saying YES Provides Growth

My comfort zone is a straight forward simply put No. But I do it in a very nice and nonchalant way. You know, with a comforting smile on my face. One that lets you know that I would really really love to do that thing, go to that place, attend that event, but I just can’t. I’ve gotten good at the type of “No” that still allows us to be friends.

Why is that?

I like my “me time”! Hey what can I say?! I never really understood why people have such a hard time with saying No. My simplicity of “No” probably stems from the fact that I don’t hold a high regard to being accepted by people. I’ve learned that I value someone’s respect, but I don’t seek their approval. I’ve considered myself an outcast most of my life and by the time I hit 25 I learned to embrace the people that understood me, with all of my quirky and bougie ways. 🤓🤓🤓

I promised myself a couple of years ago that I wouldn’t do anything that I genuinely didn’t want to do.

What I’m Learning

I’ve recently found the value in saying YES. It’s often that people that are close enough to you will see your potential more that you do! I have friends and family members that ask me to do the craziest things. And it’s because they believe in me. They put their faith in my abilities and I am often amazed by what they think little ole’ me can accomplish!
In the past year I’ve planned trips, creatively directed photo shoots, hosted events, gained national sponsors, created websites, logos and print work all because the people that I surround myself inadvertently helped push my interest further!

That Part 👆🏾So what I just said is a two way street. The people that you surround yourself with need to know what your passionate about, what your working on, and what you are interested in. It should all be clear through your actions and conversation.

It was the YES to a phone call, to YES to a dinner or coffee invitation, the YES to a favor for a friend, and the YES to attend and event that helped strengthen those relationships.

Meaningful relationships bring forth thought provoking conversations and ideas.

So what am I saying

What I’m trying to say is don’t close yourself off so tight that you stunt your own growth. Allow genuine and organic relationships to help propel you forward. Meeting people is only half of the battle, you have to grow and foster any relationship that being substance into your life.

So as 2016 comes to a close think back to what relationships you helped to foster and grow in your life this year. Was it someone new that you met a few months ago? A friend from high school or college that you reconnected with?

Finding Your Purpose

I don’t have all of the answers but it has been on my heart to share with you so things that have helped me along the way, in hopes that it provides light at the end of your tunnel.

Here’s 3 things you can start doing TODAY that will help you find your purpose:

IMG_3169

I think that it is safe to say that somewhere between 24-27 millennials hit a quarter century life crisis. It’s a stage in life were we question everything we’ve done this far and how we arrived to the point we are current at in life.

Whether good or bad we judge our lives not only by how far we have come in this journey, but how far our peers, people we know, and people we used know pair up against not only our success, but our failures as well. Henceforth a generation full of social media driven self-images.

IMG_3170

I don’t have all of the answers but it has been on my heart to share with you some things that have helped me along the way, in hopes that it provides light at the end of your tunnel.

Here’s 3 things you can start doing TODAY that will help you find your purpose:

  1. Focus your efforts in what you are good. Spend your time growing and enhancing that. What you focus on is what grows, so if you are constantly pointing out things you are not good at, that is the self-image you are creating.
  2. Your Tribe dictates your Vibe. If you are around people who don’t appreciate all of the neat and quirky things that you bring to the table, then you don’t need to be eating with them! There are literally BILLIONS of people in the world, no need to sweat anyone that doesn’t want to take the time to understand who you are as a person. Your tribe doesn’t have to look, speak, and act just like you; they just need to appreciate the uniqueness that you bring to the table.

  3. Pray for clarity. Continuously ask God to help you understand your life as it unveils. Ask Him to give you a clear distinction of what opportunities, relationships, and paths are correct for you. This is very important if you fill like you are always going back and forth and you are not really clear why.IMG_3174IMG_3171

Tools to Help:

  1. Make a to-do list daily or weekly. Make your list full of small things that will help you reach a big goal that you see yourself accomplishing within the next 6 months to a year.

  2. Go out of your way to meet new like minded people. A few good places to meet new people could be through special interest groups. I recently started a Brunch in the DFW area called Because Women Love Brunch, just to help women find other like minded women to connect with. You can use apps like Meet Up and Eventbrite to see what is going on in your area.

  3. Daily Devotional Books are great for a small work of encouragement. I have friend that send out a message daily with a devotional and a prayer. I don’t read mine daily as I should, but having prayers that touch on different topics help me when I’m not even sure what to pray for.

Originally I was just going to drop the details of my look, because I did slay for this shoot right! But it has been on my heart that if I am going to take the time to enchanted my online space “blog” that it will fulfill my strong desire to create something that inspires not only your outside appearance, but the inside as well.

Have you hit your quarter of a century crisis yet? What are some ways that you seek and follow your purpose daily?
