Girl Talk + Floral Trousers and Duster Coat

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. That exposing myself and parts of my life that I’ve worked hard to outgrow didn’t scare me, but I pressed forward anyway.

You ladies know that I love a good kiki with the girls. So I figured I would bring my girl talks to the blog! Welcome. And please understand that I am chatting with you woman to woman. Keep these conversation between you and I, don’t share all my business with anyone else! Just you and I. (kapeesh.)

I always see a commercial were Oprah is talking to a lady and she ask her, “How do you show up in your life?” They didn’t show the ladies answer (of course), but it makes me wonder how does a person answer a question like that?

Over the weekend I wrote an email to my girl tribe telling them a little bit about my personal story. I always encourage them to be open and honest with the women they meet in order to further along their relationships. And yesterday was a moment for me to practice what I’ve been preaching.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. That exposing myself and parts of my life that I’ve worked hard to outgrow didn’t scare me, but I pressed forward anyway. So I see the Oprah commercial again today. (I don’t have cable, I watch Roku so a lot of the commercial repeat themselves often. Lol.) I answered the question, “How do you show up in my life everyday?”

I show up positive, optimistic and faithful against all odds. I show up curious and eager to embrace others. I show up sharing my truth in order to help light and illuminate others.

I want to hear from you… How do you show up in your life everyday? I also what to know what are somethings you’d love to chat about during ‘Girl Talk’? Let me know!

Denim Style Guide

Best Denim StyleBest Denim StyleBest Denim StylePink SweaterDistress Denim Hem

I’ve been overly obsessed with denim lately. Although it has been a sad occasion for my wallet, I think you will find a lot of joy knowing that I have researched and updated the best 9 types of jeans for women this season! Thankfully jeans are a staple and isn’t something you should replace every season. I mean… unless you outgrow them. But right now we are in our fantasy closet where our tummy stay on flat-flat and well I’m sure you know the rest! ☺️☺️

I’m giving you the updated status on what to keep and what to rid yourself of as you prepare to embrace this winter weather! Here are the top 9 jeans for the upcoming seasons:

1. High Rise Clean And Dark

This is going to be great jean to pair with so many of the color trends for winter. Perfect for a denim, sweater and thigh boot combo. This will give you a clean trendy look without looking like you gave your outfit too much thought.

I just snagged a pair from Fashion Nova!

2. Colored Denim

This isn’t a type of denim that I normally go for, but if you can find a nice pair at a good price then it would be a great addition to your closet. For this winter season I suggest opting for a cranberry, olive, or grey denim

Colored Skinny Jeans

Tip: Search your local TJ Max or Marshall’s before you splurge on colored denim.

3. Ripped Skinny

Ripped denim is always fun! I prefer denim that is ripped at the knee and below. I’m not a fan of my hefty thigh meat sticking out of my jeans. 😩😒 Distressing at the top half of my jean and fine, anything else has to be something I’m literally dying to have.

High Waisted Jeans

Tip: If you have enough ripped denim try a moto cut jean like these, that will give your jeans some edge without the holes.

4. Boyfriend Jeans

These are a go to for me. Boyfriend jeans can be dubbed as a comfortable and sexy jean depending on your choice of top and shoes.

Example: Casual- Boyfriend jeans, stripped tee shirt and booties  Sexy- Boyfriend jeans, over sized sweater, and pumps

5. Wax Coated Jeans

I like Wax Coated Jeans much more that faux leather jeans. Much better fit and I don’t have to go up 12 sizes just to get my leg in the pants! Lol!

6. Distressed Hem Jeans

Skinny jeans with a little edge! You can go all out with full on fray or you can do a more settled look shown below.

7. Mom Jeans

A good upgrade to boyfriend jeans. A cute comfy feel with a more feminine cut.

8. Embroidered Jeans

My fun jeans, super cute for weekend wear.

9. Flare Legged Jeans

Flare Legged Jeans are great because they are flattering to most women, no matter your shape and size. Beware of the length that you decide to get. Flare legged jeans will not give you versatile shoe options like skinny and boyfriend jeans.

Tip: Take your jeans to a local tailor along with your favorite shoes for the perfect length alteration.

10. Busted Knee Skinny

🚨 Disclaimer: When I providing you with this guide I’m not doing it to say hey you! 👋🏾 if you wanna be cool like me go out and buy such and such. I’m provide you with the best information so that you can go out and make conscious and educated decisions with your suga daddies hard earned money! 💰 LOL (I’m kidding about the suga daddy part!)

So tell me what jeans do you see you yourself adding to you wardrobe this season?

Swimwear Guide for Every Body Shape

No need for the fluff, I’ll get straight to the point and give you a real girl’s guide to Instagram worthy swimwear. Here is my legit guide to the best swimsuits this summer.

No need for the fluff, I’ll get straight to the point and give you a real girl’s guide to Instagram worthy swimwear. Here is my legit guide to the best swimsuits this summer.

More to Love

For any fuller shapes, a wrapped fit can do wonders to flatter your every angle. Be sure to choose a suit that allows you to show off your best assets — such as a halter that frames your shoulders or a slight sweetheart neck if you’re up for a bit of cleavage — while the strategic twisting will give you an instant hourglass shape.

Cutouts
Cutout swimsuits are dominating summer style, and thankfully there are options for every comfort level, from teeny-tiny slices to full-on lattice work. If you’re worried about funky tan lines, we’d say this trend is worth it.

Minimalist
Minimalist bathing suits can be surprisingly challenging to find in plus sizes, as so many brands feel the need to add ruching, twists, or some sort of fabric detailing. Think of this as the palate cleanser to all other swim trends this season. To pull it off, stick to solid colors, avoid ornaments, and look for designs that cut higher up on your hip.

Little Boy

The goal here is to give the illusion of more curves, which is easily done with a top with cups, padding and gathering, and by picking girlie prints and bright colors. Don’t go for straight-across bandeaus, boy-cut briefs or shapeless full-pieces, as this will only enhance your athletic figure.

Big Boody Judy

The A Team

A low-cut French style: Experts agree this style, with skinny straps attached like a traditional bra, is often the most flattering on small chests. Cuts can vary, but the spacing of the straps allows for the scoop to go super low, a dangerous dip for busty women, but perfect for making the most of smaller cup sizes.

A center tie: Whether it’s an ornamental bow or a design switcheroo, having ties that can be tightened at the center will help pull breasts closer together, creating cleavage. The opportunity to personalize the fit is also paramount for women with smaller rib cages.

A true string bikini: The trusty pick is a good one, since the movable triangle pieces can easily be slid to the outer side of the torso, exposing your curves wherever they may be. The option to adjust to your bod is wise since a top with anchored pieces can often read as oversize on a small chest.

Busty

The most important rule when shopping for swimwear is to buy according to your bra size. However, if you’re at a mall or on a site that doesn’t offer bikini tops according to your cup, all hope is not lost: There are certain silhouettes that can work — as long as you can buy the top and bottom of the suit separately.

The Solution: Buy your sets separately.
Nowadays, most retailers will sell their tops and bottoms separately, so it’s easier to mix-and-match your perfect fit — which saves you from some incognito hanger-switching. This particular top has padded cups and elastic at the bottom, all of which work together to give you the support you need.

The Solution: Seek out adjustability.
Again, when shopping from limited size offerings, it’s all about making the pieces work for you. Adjustable straps are key for personalizing the support you get.

The Solution: Top that extends a bit below the cup.
Like in a bustier, the fabric of this striped top (ranging from 30D to 36G) goes a little further down the torso for additional grip.

Shorty

Swimsuit-guide-2016.-345

Short Legs: If you want to elongate shorter legs, go for suits with high cuts in the leg (a la Kelly Kapowski). Since you are showing more skin, it will make your gams appear longer. And if you’re really brave, go for a thong for optimal lengthening potential.

Finding Your Purpose

I don’t have all of the answers but it has been on my heart to share with you so things that have helped me along the way, in hopes that it provides light at the end of your tunnel.

Here’s 3 things you can start doing TODAY that will help you find your purpose:

IMG_3169

I think that it is safe to say that somewhere between 24-27 millennials hit a quarter century life crisis. It’s a stage in life were we question everything we’ve done this far and how we arrived to the point we are current at in life.

Whether good or bad we judge our lives not only by how far we have come in this journey, but how far our peers, people we know, and people we used know pair up against not only our success, but our failures as well. Henceforth a generation full of social media driven self-images.

IMG_3170

I don’t have all of the answers but it has been on my heart to share with you some things that have helped me along the way, in hopes that it provides light at the end of your tunnel.

Here’s 3 things you can start doing TODAY that will help you find your purpose:

  1. Focus your efforts in what you are good. Spend your time growing and enhancing that. What you focus on is what grows, so if you are constantly pointing out things you are not good at, that is the self-image you are creating.
  2. Your Tribe dictates your Vibe. If you are around people who don’t appreciate all of the neat and quirky things that you bring to the table, then you don’t need to be eating with them! There are literally BILLIONS of people in the world, no need to sweat anyone that doesn’t want to take the time to understand who you are as a person. Your tribe doesn’t have to look, speak, and act just like you; they just need to appreciate the uniqueness that you bring to the table.

  3. Pray for clarity. Continuously ask God to help you understand your life as it unveils. Ask Him to give you a clear distinction of what opportunities, relationships, and paths are correct for you. This is very important if you fill like you are always going back and forth and you are not really clear why.IMG_3174IMG_3171

Tools to Help:

  1. Make a to-do list daily or weekly. Make your list full of small things that will help you reach a big goal that you see yourself accomplishing within the next 6 months to a year.

  2. Go out of your way to meet new like minded people. A few good places to meet new people could be through special interest groups. I recently started a Brunch in the DFW area called Because Women Love Brunch, just to help women find other like minded women to connect with. You can use apps like Meet Up and Eventbrite to see what is going on in your area.

  3. Daily Devotional Books are great for a small work of encouragement. I have friend that send out a message daily with a devotional and a prayer. I don’t read mine daily as I should, but having prayers that touch on different topics help me when I’m not even sure what to pray for.

Don’t worry I gotcha’ covered boo. <3 With a trillion places to shop swimsuits online, I managed to narrow my list down to my three favorite places to shop for swimsuits online:

IMG_6405

  1. Victoria’s Secret: I love to mix and match swimwear and they alway have cute pieces and great price if you catch them during a semi-annual sale. Favorite piece: the high leg isty bikini! It made my legs look longer, my stomach flatter and my butt fuller 🙂 What more can a girl ask for?
  2. ASOS: They offer 2 day shipping just in case you are in a rush and they offer extended sizes so it’s perfect for ladies that are fuller on the top, bottom, or anywhere else for that matter! Favorite piece: a leopard swimsuit bra top.
  3. AliExpress: Yes the same sight everyone buys bootleg hair from! Lol lol. They sell cute cheap replicas and different styles for really cheap! Which is great because I usually don’t carry my swimsuits over year to year unless I’m really in love with it. Favorite piece: the all white crossed bathing suit that I wore in Mexico! I had been seeing it for sale at all of the boutiques and I snagged it for like 10 bucks!!
