Funny, Witty, Knowledgeable, Helpful and Cute are a few words I would use to describe Amber; who is a Travel Guru and contributor to The Culture Supplier. I had the pleasure of meeting her though a friend that came to the first event I ever hosted for Because Women Love Brunch. Megan! Hey Megs, thanks for the intro! ūüôā

Because Women Love Brunch had the opportunity to host Amber as a panelist for our Girl Talk: Catch Flights Not Feelings at Brunch and Bubbly in Dallas, TX a few weeks ago! Here are 5 top notch travel tips Amber provided:

Favorite Sites

  • The Flight Deal¬†
  • Skyscanner
  • Airfare Watchdog

Quick Tips:

  • Be flexible with your dates. If you have the flexibility to move your travel dates, DO IT! I saved $500+ by simply moving the date I traveled.¬†
  • Don’t be afraid to depart from other cities. If you see a deal from another state/city, it may be cheaper to book a flight from there.
  • Don’t procrastinate. Deals book quickly. If you see a deal, grab it as soon as possible!¬†

If you’re having problems securing travel arrangements with your friends (because we’ve all been there), I suggest embarking on a solo trip and/or joining a travel group. A few groups include:¬†¬†

  • Nomadness¬†
  • We Go Too World¬†
  • Tastemakers Africa¬†
  • Black Girls Travel Too

Quick Tips

  • When planning a group trip, make sure all personalities will mess well. If your best friend is Kenya Moore, I suggest leaving her behind.
  • There are also numerous travel groups/chat groups that you can join. This is a great way to make connections all over the world and find people to vacation with. I’ve listed a few groups above and in the attached link. Check them out!¬†

Lodging can get pricey, especially if you don’t know where to look. Hotels and resorts are the most common lodging options for travelers, but there are other housing choices you may want to consider before booking a place to stay.¬†

Options Include

  • Hostels (inexpensive lodging and an excellent way to meet other travelers from around the world)¬†
  • Airbnb (personal favorite)
  • HomeAway
  • (hosts provide FREE housing)
  • Farmstays (free housing is provided to guest in exchange for labor on a farm).¬†
Quick Tips
  • Read reviews and compare prices before booking accommodations. ¬†¬†
  • If you feel uncomfortable sleeping in a hostel or Airbnb, book a hotel. This is your vacation (not mine). At the end of the day, you should be 100% comfortable with the location.¬†

ÔĽŅGirl Talk + Floral Trousers and Duster Coat

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. That exposing myself and parts of my life that I’ve worked hard to outgrow didn’t scare me, but I pressed forward anyway.

You ladies know that I love a good kiki with the girls. So I figured I would bring my girl talks to the blog! Welcome. And please understand that I am chatting with you woman to woman. Keep these conversation between you and I, don’t share all my business with anyone else! Just you and I. (kapeesh.)

I always see a commercial were Oprah is talking to a lady and she ask her, “How do you show up in your life?” They didn’t show the ladies answer (of course), but it makes me wonder how does a person answer a question like that?

Over the weekend I wrote an email to my girl tribe telling them a little bit about my personal story. I always encourage them to be open and honest with the women they meet in order to further along their relationships. And yesterday was a moment for me to practice what I’ve been preaching.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. That exposing myself and parts of my life that I’ve worked hard to outgrow didn’t scare me, but I pressed forward anyway. So I see the Oprah commercial again today. (I don’t have cable, I watch Roku so a lot of the commercial repeat themselves often. Lol.) I answered the question, “How do you show up in my life everyday?”

I show up positive, optimistic and faithful against all odds. I show up curious and eager to embrace others. I show up sharing my truth in order to help light and illuminate others.

I want to hear from you… How do you show up in your life everyday? I also what to know what are somethings you’d love to chat about during ‘Girl Talk’? Let me know!
