Dallas Foodie Good Food, Strong Drinks

Good food, strong drinks! Let’s Eat! Don’t read this is dieting is one of your NY resolutions!

This selfie has nothing to do with the restaurant, but I thought I was cute or whateva. 💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾 So.. here it is!… Moving on!

Henry’s Majestic is pretty LIT! Good food, nice bar area, banging patio. 👌🏾 I went in the middle of December, of course we are talking about Texas so it was about 65+ degrees 🤗 I’m excited to go back during the summer. The food was pretty good and the drink were awesome. This is the type of place you go to get a good crafted drink. 🍹

To my surprise I came right on time for Happy Hour. Hey don’t judge me, I see you judging me. It was 5pm SOMEWHERE! ☺️

Good table options:

I got the the shrimp and grits. Great option except for the heeps of hot sauce on the top (Got Hot Sauce in my BAG SWAGG! Lol) 👛👛👛 Yea, just get that *ish on the side.

Good main options:

I obviously have the Marrow Spiked Burger with a side of Hand Cut Russets.. MAGIC! I stuffed myself and finished it all. Lol lol.

Did I mention that they have live music Friday & Saturday night as well as Brunch hours on Sunday! So go there and ask for Carlos, a.) because he was a great server and b.) he took a couple of picture of me without making it super awkward. 📸 Lol Thanks Los!

Whiskey Cake

Dainty, quirky and delicious are probably the first three words that I can think of after experiencing the first of many times at Whiskey Cake! 😋 Tucked conveniently off of Dallas North Tollway around the same area as Williwbend Mall. But you can Google Maps yourself there! I’m just here to make sure you put this little gem on you Go-To List in the North Dallas area! A few of many reasons Whiskey Cake just went from not on my list to the top third or better:

Southern Cooked Food. I’m way too stuff at the point to give all of the descriptive words about how good my food was. Let’s just say my waffle had a long stripe of bacon cooked in it. It probably mentioned it on the description in the menu, but of course I scanned and didn’t read it so I was presently surprised. 😜

Amazing Atmosphere/ Set-up. I sat at the bar which was an open rounded area so I was able to see a full show of bartenders making drinks. Fresh vegetables being squeezed, he’ll I even had a view of chicken being roasted in kitchen! I soaked up ever bit of that!

Location. I hate having to dive and duck to find a place to eat. Convenience people! 🚗🚗🚗

Fresh Juice. Need I say more?!. Freshly squeezed juice. I chose the Hulk made with cucumber, pineapple juice, natural honey and a bunch of other yummy goodness 😋😋

Bloody Mary Bar. I over heard a bartender telling a guy that there was a bar for people who ordered bloody Mary’s! Yes I was ease dropping, but I did it for you 😏 After I finished stuffing my face I strolled around I stumble right across it!

Cute Patio Area. It’s wan’t huge more cute and cozy feel, but it would def get the job done for a brunch or dinner outside.

pink + camo and mexican sugar

Sometimes keeping it simple can make a huge statement. I was so in love with this fun look I’m ready to jump right into it! Ripped Camo + Pink + Double Buns gave me so much life that night.  I will list the details below so you can achieve this look on your next girls night out! Ready or not I’m serving up some of my favorite f-words: food, fun, and fashion!

Laughs and giggles, skinny margaritas, and lots of girl talk where served at Mexican Sugar last Friday night.

With Latin American flare and cuisine, low lighting, and seating set up for great conversations Mexican Sugar is easily one of my fav restaurants on the north side of Dallas. If you go on the weekend be sure arrive before 7 or book reservations ahead of time because the secret is out. Everyone loves Mexican Sugar.

fringe funk + uptown fun

Over the weekend I got to explore uptown. I ate at Del Frisco Grill and I will say that the patio roof is pretty awesome, but the food nor service was to die for…

The real gem I found was Breadwinners. I’ve heard of this place in passing, but I am guessing that I never really went into depths of what it’s all about.

They have a counter stocked full of homemade deserts from giant snicker doodle cookies to oreo crusted banana pie, not to mention the full loaded bar and your option of margaritas, sangria, and frozen peach bellini. (my kind of place great drinks + awesome desserts) 🙂

I just grabbed desert and looked around this time, but I plan on going back in the near future!

I kept my look pretty simple with a fringe tank that I purchased at a local boutique, palazzo tribal print pants, a simple wedge so my pants would drag the ground to terribly and a burgundy matte lip.

Palazzo pants are fun and can be dress up or down. I like them best for casual outings with a basic top. And as for Fringe– it has appeared in top trends for at least the past 3 summers making grand entrances on fashion runways, stars like Kate Bosworth, at music festivals such as Coachellaand Austin City Limits and ‘the fringe trend’ has even made its way to number 14 of the Como’s 15 Biggest Trends of Spring 2015.

co-ord + fringe and table talk with kris

When I first considered writing a blog I thought about the visuals of my site, outfits and other people’s perception of me. As I actively participate in creating a blog, I am far more interested in the content than anything else. I mean yes I want for my blog to be appealing, for people to appreciate my uniqueness, and my ability to express myself through my personal style. But I am surprising immersed in the content I create; to be able to articulate and create an authentic ability to connect with and inspire people.

Creating content that is well-organized, maintains a flow, and is relative to your readers can be hard especially for a beginner blogger. And in all honesty it can be draining at times, but I stuck in there like a champ and will come out of this week a better and more self-aware person. Hope you enjoy a glimpse at some of my week:

I created a Book List:

All of the books on my list are in some way related to the fashion industry, entrepreneurship, and girl power in general! I would love to add some type of daily devotional books also, so if you know of any please let me know.

Lean In– Nell Scovell and Sheryl Sandberg

Girl Boss– Sophia Amoruso

Stepping Out: Your Strategic Playbook for Launching as an Emerging Entrepreneur– Dondra Bassett

If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You– Kelly Cutrone

Closer– Scott Schuman

I attended Table Talk with Kris:

Last Saturday I attended Table Talk with Kristiahna and enjoyed myself tremendously. Kristiahna also known as Kris created an open dialogue between the panelists made up of successful business women/entrepreneurs and ladies in attendance.  We came together to network, enjoy each other’s company, discuss everyday issues, be inspired by one another’s stories and reach our highest potential. Entry to the event was complementary and included a small brunch, vender shops, and great panelists that shed light on several topics and real life situations. I met a lot of great ladies and gained guidance on allowing yourself to be transparent in order to impact the lives of others, the importance of simplifying your brand and counteracting negative thoughts among much more. You can find out more information about Kris’s next event here.

I met this doll at the event, Doni Brown stylist, fashion blogger, and panelist of Table Talk with Kris. She is so sweet and so down to earth!

I tried out a new restaurant:

I went to Urban Taco off McKinney Avenue in Dallas for the first time a week or so ago to celebrate a promotion for a co-worker, but because it was so many of us and it was happy hour it felt rushed. But I did like the ambiance, location and the tacos so after the table talk event I went back for a full on experience. It’s not your typical Mexican style restaurant, but they have a variety of street style tacos and their house margaritas on the rocks are amazing! Don’t go expecting chips and queso though; their queso is pan-fried cheese, but the variety of salsa makes up for it. Kinda. Sorta. Well not really, because Texas people loooove queso, but the huge patio and drink specials definitely make up for it!

Co-Ord + Fringe:

My co-ord set came from Hollister. I snagged it over the holiday season while on sale. Yes I shop sale and yes I buy things months in advance for no apparent reason. Guilty as charged! And needless to say this particular co-ord is no longer in stock, but I did find some awesome co-ords with similar colors or style here, here, and here. I paired it with my favorite Go Jane fringe chunky wedge and a dainty little headband from Nasty Gal.
